ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih, Ukraine’s largest integrated mining and metallurgical complex, announced on its official channels that it will not resume operations until hostilities cease. The decision follows four Russian missile strikes targeting the facility over a five-week period, which severely damaged critical production infrastructure and resulted in five fatalities and seventeen injuries among staff.
The plant operates a fully integrated value chain spanning iron ore extraction through to finished rolled steel products. The extensive structural damage and ongoing security threats have rendered continued manufacturing unviable under current conditions.
The prolonged shutdown removes a significant portion of Eastern European iron ore processing and steelmaking capacity from the market, potentially tightening regional supply chains and influencing downstream metal pricing until operations can safely restart.
