Project Milestones
On 2026-08-07, Ariana Resources announced plans to begin gold production at the Dokwe gold project in Zimbabwe in 2028, which would become the country's first major greenfield gold mine development in decades. The London-listed exploration and development company expects to complete a final feasibility study in Q1 2027, paving the way for project construction and subsequent commissioning. The Dokwe project is located approximately 110 km northwest of Bulawayo. Managing Director Kerim Sener said that, provided development milestones are achieved smoothly, the company expects to produce first gold in 2028.
Production Target
Sener said: "If everything goes well, I hope to pour our first gold bar in 2028." Dokwe is considered Zimbabwe's largest undeveloped gold deposit and one of the few significant greenfield mining projects in the country to have made progress in decades. Zimbabwe has a historic gold mining industry, but foreign investment declined sharply during political and economic challenges in the early 2000s.
