Project Investment
On August 4, 2026, according to ASIATODAY.ID, Australian clean technology company Pure Battery Technologies (PBT) has committed to investing $350 million to build a battery materials plant in the Batang Special Economic Zone, Central Java, Indonesia, producing cathode precursor material (pCAM) for lithium-ion batteries.
Employment Impact
The project is the largest investment in PBT's history. Engineering design is expected to be completed in 2027, followed by construction. The construction phase will employ about 1,000 workers, and commercial operations will provide about 200 permanent jobs, along with thousands of jobs in supporting industries such as logistics, engineering, transportation, and maintenance.
