Guinea's state-owned Nimba Mining Gold and Australian gold miner Resolute Mining have established a jointly controlled entity, Landaya Gold, to carry out gold resource assessment, exploration and development work, according to an announcement dated Aug. 18, 2026.
The partnership forms part of Guinea's broader effort to diversify its mining sector beyond bauxite, the commodity that dominates the country's export revenues. Expanding domestic gold production is intended to lessen Guinea's heavy reliance on aluminium ore while generating new value from its mineral wealth.
For Resolute, which already has operating experience in Africa, the venture provides exposure to early-stage gold projects in a country that has drawn increasing international mining interest. The deal highlights growing momentum behind Guinea's push to attract investment into its gold belt alongside its established bauxite industry.
