Policy Extension

On 2026-08-05, Dumont Nickel S.E.C. announced that the Quebec government has approved extending the validity of the government decree (No. 526-2015 and its amendments) for the Dumont nickel project to 2031. The decree authorizes open-pit mining of the Dumont nickel deposit in Launay, Abitibi-Témiscamingue, as well as the construction and operation of an ore processing plant.

Project Progress

The extension allows Dumont Nickel to continue advancing the final investment decision and project development. The Dumont project is one of Canada's most advanced nickel-cobalt projects, aimed at contributing to critical mineral supply chains for the energy transition, electric vehicles, defense, and mineral sovereignty.
