Key Facts
Several Queensland-based vanadium developers are targeting upstream production of vanadium pentoxide (V₂O₅) before 2027, to benefit from the rapid growth in global battery energy storage demand. Vecco Group plans to start V₂O₅ production at its 8,700 mt/year Debella mine next year, and has already begun midstream vanadium electrolyte production at its Townsville pilot plant in 2023, with plans to expand capacity to 300 MWh/year by 2028.
Project and Capacity
Richmond Vanadium Technologies targets V₂O₅ production at its 12,701 mt/year Lilyvale mine in 2027. Critical Minerals Group targets V₂O₅ production at its 10,577 mt/year Lindfield mine in 2030, and plans to produce vanadium electrolyte from third-party feedstock at a New South Wales plant in 2028.
