Signing of cooperation agreement
On August 5, 2026, Pakistan's Oil and Gas Development Company (OGDC) and the Pakistan Institute of Applied Science and Technology (Pinstech) signed a cooperation agreement to jointly advance lithium production in Pakistan.
Advancing lithium production
OGDC has identified 8 to 10 additional well sites that can be used for lithium extraction from geothermal brines. The cooperation aims to extract lithium using geothermal brine resources to support the development of Pakistan's lithium industry.
