Xinjiang produced a cumulative 259.535 million tonnes of raw coal in the first half of the year, and outbound Xinjiang coal covered 19 provincial-level regions nationwide. Xinjiang has built two 100-million-tonne-class coal production bases, Zhundong and Hami, with average single-mine capacity exceeding 5.5 million tonnes per year and open-pit mines accounting for 70% of capacity. On July 28, construction officially started on the Shitoumei No. 2 Coal Mine in the Santanghu mining area of Barkol County. The mine is designed to produce 8 million tonnes of raw coal per year, with completion and commissioning planned for 2029. It is the first ultra-large coal mine to start construction in Xinjiang during the 15th Five-Year Plan period.
Supply and Demand
In terms of outbound transport, Hami's coal outbound volume in the first half of the year rose 25.2% year on year, representing 49.1% of total output. Xinjiang Energy Group has this year opened routes such as Xinjiang coal to Shandong and Xinjiang coal to Anhui; Xinjiang's outbound coal volume increased 31% year on year, with chemical coal accounting for 34.5%.
