Slight Output Increase
On August 1, 2026, Dr. Hapenga Kabeta, Permanent Secretary of Zambia's Ministry of Mines and Minerals Development, said at a briefing on the first half of 2026 industry performance that copper output in H1 2026 was 447,181.93 mt, up from 445,176.59 mt in the same period of 2025. The increase was mainly due to higher output from mines including Kansanshi, Lumwana, Lubambe, FQM and Konkola Copper Mines.

In addition, as of July 28, 2026, geophysical survey coverage had reached 87.5%, up from 61.7% in the first quarter. Under the Local Content (LOCAS) system, about 76 mining companies have registered and submitted procurement plans.
