Gold Fields Proposes $27 Billion Takeover of Northern Star to Become World’s Second-Largest Producer

South African miner Gold Fields has put forward a $27 billion offer to acquire Australian operator Northern Star Resources, targeting creation of the globe’s second-biggest gold producer.
